Spline approximation

SolidCAM enables you to define the Spline approximation tolerance for the chain selection. Arcs on the XY-plane are saved as arcs in the SolidCAM database; if you select an arc or spline that is not on the XY-plane of the actual part Coordinate System position, SolidCAM will do the following:

1. Project the arc or spline on the XY-plane of the active home and divide it into segments according to the specified tolerance.

2. In order to reduce the number of segments, SolidCAM tries to fit arcs on the segments generated in step 1 according to the specified tolerance multiplied by 3.
