Advanced

You can define the following parameters in the Advanced tab of a Thread Milling operation:

Multiple starts

This feature allows creating every single thread with multiple starts.

No. of starts - This parameter defines the number of thread starts.

Thread lead - Displays the lead of the thread (number of starts * thread pitch). This parameter cannot be edited and is displayed for information only.

Sorting

This section defines the order of machining multiple-start thread between rough and finish paths.

Complete Step over

This option represents finishing the first rough offset for all thread starts and then move to the next rough offset.

Complete Thread

This option represents finishing all rough offsets for first thread start and then move to paths for another thread start.

Rough pattern

The Rough pattern section is enabled when Multiple option is selected in the Rough section of Technology page. The Rough Patterns feature allows selecting different ways/patterns of how the roughing will be performed. This allows you to have complete control over the cutting edge used on the part.

There are four options available.

Horizontal approach
Approach from top
Approach from bottom
Zig-zag approach

You have to set the Upper and Lower flank/thread angle in order to use the Approach from top, Approach from bottom and Zig-zag approach options.

In Horizontal approach, both Upper and Lower thread angle are disabled.

In Approach from top, only Upper thread angle is enabled.

In Approach from bottom, only the option of Lower thread angle is enabled.

In Zigzag approach, both options are enabled.
