Advanced options for guide curve

Click Advanced to view the Advanced options for Guide curves window.

Projection direction

This section sets the direction of the projected curves.

Surface normal option sets the direction of the projected curves to Surface normal.

Machining direction option sets the direction of the projected curves in the Machining direction.
User-defined option enables you to define the direction of the projected curves by a vector. The Direction dialog box (available with   ) enables you to define the direction vector by its coordinates (dX, dY and dZ parameters). Using , SolidCAM enables you to pick the start and end points of the curve directly on the solid model.

Margin

The offset section maintains a defined offset from the input curves. The default Offset value is set to zero.

Offset from first curve-The offset is defined from the first selected curve. It represents a margin that defines the distance from the drive curve where the first cut should be created. All other cuts are created at a step-over distance that is dependent on the first cut.

Offset from second curve-The offset is defined from the second selected curve. It represents a margin that defines the distance from the drive curve where the last cut should be created. All other cuts are created at a step-over distance that is dependent on the last cut.

The value entered in this field must be positive or equal to zero. If you enter a negative value the following message is displayed.

Guide-curve to containment tolerance defines the tolerance between the guide curve and the defined containment. The default value is set to zero. If the containment and the guide curves are not equal, a guide-curve to containment tolerance will add the entire guide drive curve.

Add internal tool radius check box when selected adds the tool radius from the generated boundary. Add internal tool radius check box when not selected removes the tool radius from the generated boundary. This field is unchecked by default.

Input curves

Extend open input curves allows you to extend the input curve to reach the boundary.
