Tool path parameters

The Tool path parameters page enables you to define the parameters of finish machining.

Passes

Quality

Cut tolerance - The option of Cut tolerance is similar and works the same as in other Sim 5-Axis operations.

Maximum distance - Select this check box to define the maximal distance between two tool positions.

Extension

This section allows you to add extensions to trimming edges. Open edges extend tangentially to result in a collision free tool path. Closed edges extend along themselves in a loop. Specify the extension length for the start and end of edges separately in the respective Start distance and End distance fields.

Sorting

Direction of machining - The Climb and Conventional Direction of machining depends on the rotation direction of the machine spindle.

  • Climb - In this option, the direction of tool movement is the same as the direction of the spindle rotation.

  • Conventional - In this option, the tool movement is opposite to the spindle rotation movement.

Start Point - This section enables you to define the beginning of the first cut and the following cuts onto the drive surface.

  • Automatic - When this option is selected, the start point begins at the middle of the longest segment if the curves are closed.

  • User-defined - When this option is selected, the position of the start point can be defined with the coordinates X, Y and Z. Click to open Start point window and define the values.

Corners

This tab is similar to the Corners tab of SWARF machining operation.
