Origin position

This tab enables you to choose the location of the tool origin position according to the specified Tool angle.

Origin position definition

SolidCAM offers you several possible locations for the tool origin position suitable for the current tool angle. The tool origin position is defined by choosing a point on the illustration in the dialog box; the number that appears at the chosen point is sent to the post-processor.

For example, when the Tool angle is set to 90°, the following possibilities (marked by circles) are available to define the origin position:

If the Tool angle is defined by Additional angle (e.g. 150°) between the major angle values, SolidCAM takes the defined Tool angle value to which the additional value was added (in this case 90°) for the origin position definition.

The automatically generated image displays the actual location of the origin position that is chosen relative to the tool geometry.

The Define delta from center option enables you to define the location of the origin position by the Z and X delta distances from the tool radius center.

Origin position for machine simulation

This section enables you to view the X- and Z-coordinates of the tool origin position that will be used in Machine Simulation. These parameters can be defined on the corresponding page in Part Tool Table.
