Copy

The tool movements are parallel to the geometry.

A finishing pass is performed, if chosen, in the end of the copy roughing stage. The tool path calculation depends on whether CNC-Machine cycles are used or not.

Using the CNC-Machine cycle

When the Use cycle check box is selected, the tool movements are performed according to the machine cycle of the particular CNC-controller. The tool movements are usually calculated as follows: from the start point of the tool a line is drawn to the start point of the geometry. The Step down value between each two successive copy movements is measured along this line.

  • Longitudinal copy roughing

  • Facial copy roughing

Not using the CNC-Machine cycle

When the Use cycle check box is not selected, the tool movements are calculated by SolidCAM according to the parameters defined in the Copy tab.
