Drag & Drop Templates Dialog box


In the Drag & Drop Templates dialog box, SolidCAM allows you to toggle between Operation Templates, Process Templates, Hole Wizard Process and Manage Templates. Click on the required icon to open the relevant Template table. To close the Template table click on the same icon again. You can simultaneously open two or more Template tables.

Cam Template directory

This section enables you to define the default location for SolidCAM templates. You can define the path by entering it in the box or by clicking on Browse and choosing the location.

Coordsys

This section enables you to select the Coordinate system for the Operation generated using the Drag & Drop template.

Automatic CoordSys - When you select this option, SolidCAM automatically selects the Coordinate system for the Drag & Drop operation.

Choose CoordSys - When you select this option, the drop-down list is enabled allowing you to chose the Coordinate system.

Click CoordSys to view the CoordSys Manager dialog box to get more information about the Coordinate System..

Save options

Save- All settings and parameters of the Drag & Drop operation are saved.

  Save & Calculate- All settings and parameters of the Drag & Drop operation are saved and the tool path is calculated.

The Save & Calculate option is set a default.  SolidCAM remembers the last selection and sets it as default.

Operation Templates

The Operation Template section displays the folder list of various available Technologies. Use to expand or to collapse all the Technology folders. Each Technology folder displays the list of all the available Operation Templates pertaining to that particular Technology.

If a Template is not available for a particular Technology, that Technology folder will not be displayed.

SolidCAM provides you with the possibility to filter the defined Operation Templates. Operation Template filtering is text sensitive. In Enter text here you can start entering any character available in the name of the Template, all the Operation Templates having these characters start populating.

Delete the entered text to display all the previous Operation Templates.   

Right-click the selected Operation Template to Show & Edit the Template.

You can customize the Technologies displayed in Operations Template table as per your requirement. Right-click on the Technology folder and click Customize to re-arrange the Technologies displayed.

The following dialog box is displayed.

Move up enables you to move the Technology position towards the top.

Move down enables you to move the Technology position towards the bottom.

Check all selects all the Technologies available in the list.

Clear all deselects all the Technologies available in the list. However, the first technology is displayed in the Operation Template table to enable you to use the Customize option again.

Process Templates

In this section, the Left-hand table displays Name of all the Process Templates located in the SolidCAM Template Directory. In the right-hand table the corresponding Operation Name is displayed. Right-click on the selected operation Template to Show & Edit the operation.

Manage Templates

Refer Manage Templates to manage the Operation and Process Templates.

 

Hole Wizard Process

SolidCAM can recognize the holes created with SOLIDWORKS Hole Wizard feature and perform machining of the holes automatically. This section allows you to create Hole Wizard Process operations using Drag & Drop Template functionality.

Select center by

The Single hole option enables you to perform the process for only one selected hole, regardless of its definition in SOLIDWORKS Hole Wizard.

The Wizard option enables you to select holes created in Hole Wizard. When you choose With Pattern, all holes created with Hole Wizard pattern are selected.

With Pattern is enabled when Wizard is selected and disabled when Single hole is selected.

The Database - The SOLIDWORKS HOLE WIZARD is loaded by default. If you want to add a new database click  and select a new database.

You can change the default Database in the User Directory for Hole Wizard Process in SolidCAM Settings.

Drag to Hole

Click Drag to Hole and drag it to a hole on the CAM-Part. The hole is recognized, processed and all operations are added to the CAM tree.

Drag to Surface

Click Drag to Surface and drag it to a surface on the CAM-Part. SolidCAM finds all the holes perpendicular to the surface that are created with the Hole Wizard and all operations are automatically added to the CAM tree.

The unrecognized hole is identified by the following error message:

Currently the following types of holes can be recognized and processed:

  • Tapped Holes

  • Counterbore Holes

  • Countersink Holes

  • Simple Holes
