Technology page

This page enables you to define the technological parameters of Multi-depth Drilling operation.

Segment levels

This section contains a table with different Segment levels to manually set parameters for each Segment level and a schematic image of the hole section.

No. This field displays the sequential number of the Segment level.
Level By default, this field displays the Safety distance as the First level and the Drill depth as the Last level taking into account the Delta value . The other levels are added manually. In the Levels section, all the upward movements are indicated in blue color and the downward movements in black color.

If the Level value entered is lower than the Operation Depth i.e. Drill depth on Levels page, the following error message is displayed

Click OK. The Level is automatically reset to the Drill depth by default.

F (mm/min) This field defines the feed rate of the tool and gives full control of the feed rate at every Segment level. By default, the value selected in the Data tab of the Tool page is displayed. This field can be edited or you can select Rapid feed rate from the drop-down list.
S (rpm) This field defines the spinning speed of the tool and gives full control of the drill spin at every Segment level. By default, the value selected in the Data tab of the Tool page is displayed.
Spin Direction This field enables you to choose between OFF / clockwise (CW) / counterclockwise (CCW) direction and gives full control of the drill spin direction at every segment level.

  • When OFF is selected, the Peck section gets disabled.

  • This feature is very useful when retracting from deep holes.

Coolant This field enables you to define the tool coolant options (ON/OFF) that will be used for the current Segment level.
Dwell This field introduces a pause. The user-defined time (in seconds) can be edited in the Dwell edit box.

To add a row below-  Select the row and click or select the row, right-click and select Add.

  • After the Last level, if you Add a row the tool returns to the First level.

  • If there is another hole, the set of segments begins again from the First level.

To delete a row - Select the row and click or select the row, right-click and select Delete.

Before adding a row if you change the Feed rate and Spin rate values in the Data tab of Tool page, any row added thereafter will by default inherit these Feed and Spin rate values.

Sorting

This section enables you to define the sequence of the drill positions, manage its direction, etc.

Dwell

Dwell introduces a pause. You can define the time (in seconds) in the edit box. This field is always enabled. The Dwell value should be equal to or greater than 0.

Peck

When the Peck option is selected, the tool performs pecking motions. The Segment level of the peck is also displayed in brackets . When the Peck check box is selected, each segment level is activated individually using its own values.

The Step down Value defines the depth the tool reaches at each step.

If you enter Zero or a negative value, the following error message is displayed

The Gradual step down enables you to define the Decrement value of the gradual step down till the Minimum Gradual step down value is reached. Thereafter, the Step down value inherits the Minimum step down value till the drill depth is reached.

  • For the Decrement if you enter a negative value, the following error message is displayed

  • For the Minimum step down if you enter Zero or a negative value, the following error message is displayed

The Release distance parameter enables you to define the distance that the tool travels back while retracting.

Full retract - After every peck the tool returns to the start level.

Segment start level - After every peck the tool returns to the start of the segment.

Peck clearance level - After every peck the tool returns to the user-defined Peck clearance level.

User-defined Peck Safety gives full control over what distance to continue drilling. After retract the tool returns back to the last drilled depth minus Peck safety makes another small cut, retracts again and so on until the full drill depth is reached.

If you enter a negative value, the following error message is displayed

Peck clearance level value should be equal or greater than Peck safety.
