General grooving parameters

The General tab enables you to define the general technological parameters of machining.

Mode

This section enables you to set the machining mode.

• Long

This option enables you to execute longitudinal grooving (the working direction is the Z-axis direction).

• Face

This option enables you to execute facial grooving (the working direction is the X-axis direction).

Work type

This field enables you to define the machining type.

• Rough

• Finish only

X output

The Negative X output option enables you to perform grooving in the negative direction of the X-axis. The tool mounting and offset should be chosen accordingly.

1. The offset for the negative X output is applied to the absolute dimension on the X-axis.

Use cycle

This option enables you to define whether the turning cycles of the CNC-machine are used or the tool path movements are generated by SolidCAM.

The following options are available:

• Yes

The program updates the geometry according to the tool shape and generates the GCode for the CNC-controller cycle including the parameters required to execute the cycle and the GCode of the updated geometry.

• No

The program updates the geometry according to the tool shape and then calculates the minimum tool movements needed taking into account the material boundary in the beginning of the operation.

• Cut

Machine groove cycles are used for every vertical cutting step.
