Operation name
When the geometry and the tool are defined, SolidCAM automatically enters a default name (for example, F_Profile1) based on the operation type and the geometry name.
You can edit the operation name, if necessary.
SolidCAM uses the following operation type abbreviations for Milling operations:
FM_ — Face Milling
F_ — Profile
F3D_ — Contour 3D
P_ — Pocket
D_ — Drilling
THM_ — Thread Milling
S_ — Slot
TSlot_ — T-Slot
TS_ — Translated Surface
TBX_ — ToolBox Cycles
2DE_, 3DE_ — Engraving
PR_ — Pocket Recognition
Deburr_– Edge Deburring Recognition
DR_ — Drill Recognition
SX_, SY_, SZ_, AX_, AY_, AZ_, B_, P_, PB_, C_, H_, HB_, EAR_, IAR_, EC_, IC_, — Probe Cycles
iRough_, iRest_, iFinish_ — iMachining 2D
i3DRough_ — iMachining 3D
When you add a new operation, you can use an existing operation as a template for the new operation. All values of the template operation are copied and you only need to edit some varying parameters, e.g. select another geometry or redefine the surface offset value.
Use the Operation name list to select the template operation. When you open this list, it also displays the numbers for tools used in the operations.
If you type the name of an existing operation into the field, the following warning message is displayed:
