Tool page

This page enables you to define the tool and related parameters for the operation.

When the tool is defined, it displays the following tool parameters:

The following tabs are available:

  • Tool - this tab displays the major tool parameters and enables you to choose tool by clicking the Select button.

  • Data - this tab enables you to define the feed, spin and tool offset parameters for the tool chosen in the operation.

  • Feed Points - this tab enables you to customize the Feed rate inside a single turning tool path.

  • Origin position - this tab enables you to define the tool origin position.

  • Coolant - this tab enables you to define tool coolant options.

  • Tool change position - this tab enables you to define the tool change position parameters.

Submachine

If your CNC-Machine includes more than one Submachine, this option is visible and enables you to choose a submachine that will be used to perform this operation.

This section is enabled only after the tool is selected.

This option is visible if you have the possibility of choosing a submachine.

Tool angle

This section enables you to review the current orientation of the tool and optionally edit its parameters.

Flipped – this field indicates whether or not the tool is flipped relative to the defined orientation.

Additional angle – this option enables you to adjust the angle of the tool chosen for the operation.

Turning plane rotation – this option enables you to add a plane rotation value to the chosen tool orientation.

If two solutions are possible for the same tool orientation, you can also specify First/Second Angles pair. When more than one solution is possible, SolidCAM calculates for each tool axis orientation both angles pair during the tool path generation. Only one of them must be chosen for the GCode generation.

This option is available only for machines with Turning plane rotation rules.

Spin direction – this option determines the spin direction: CW (clockwise) or CCW (counterclockwise).

X output – depending on where the tool is mounted (upper or lower turret), this option enables you to call the output in either the X+ or X- direction.

Since the X output selection is respective to the Spin direction, both options cannot be used simultaneously.
